To celebrate International Women’s Day, Australian organisation She Codes joined forces with recruitment firm Robert Walters to launch the #IWDCodingChallenge, designed to encourage women and minorities who may never have thought about coding as a career to give it a go.
Aimed at novice coders, this initiative will guide participants through a tutorial on coding the ‘Cupcake Smash’ mini-game. Taking approximately one hour, participants will be invited to customise their game code and show off their newfound skills on LinkedIn, Twitter or Instagram for a chance to win a tech prize bundle.
Prizes include Amazon gift vouchers, merchandise and a one-on-one mentoring session with Kate Kirwin, founder of She Codes, as well as a coaching session with a Robert Walters technology recruitment expert.
She Codes are an Australian movement focused on empowering women to enter tech careers. They provide free coding workshops as well as coding courses, events and a mentorship scheme to help provide women of all ages with the skills and support they need to enter a technical career.
The competition is open to participants from around the world. Find out more here.
